Appreciation

Every now and then, I like to show appreciation to my best friends by thanking them for always being there for me and by reminding them that I love them, whether it be out loud, in a letter, text message, or on a post somewhere online. The sad thing is that I say I love you to my friends more often than I do to my family. Oops? Well, anyway, friend...Thank you for reading this random blog, even though it was not much. But I do hope you learned something from it. ;) xo, J

First Encounter

June 21, 2008. My first encounter with Marie at the Glass House in Pomona during her first ever tour around the country.
Creep on the bleachers: "Marie!...Marie!...MARIE!" [She finally turns around.]
Marie: [looks up at the bleachers] "Oh hey!"
Creep: "Hey! Can I take a picture of you?"
Marie: "Uhhhmmmm...[looks around]...yeah...sure..." [smiles]
Creep: [takes picture] "Cool! Thank you!"
Marie: "You're welcome!"  :S
lol

We were all strangers before.  Strangers who are friends waiting to happen.

Darth Vader

Some of you may know that middle school was the worst time of my life.  I was a loner.  For 3 years straight, everyday at lunch time, I would sit on the bleachers under the pavilion watching the boys play basketball.
Anyway, some of you may also know the song, "Miss Invisible."  The last line in the song, which states, "Came a boy who sat under the bleachers just a little bit further behind," always reminds me of a particular boy.  He is very smart and our peers always tease him, particularly because of his love for Star Wars.  Our peers would call him Darth Vader because he has a problem with his lungs, so when he talks, he sounds like Darth Vader.  It is almost like he's out of breath.

In eighth grade, our last year in  middle school, I was a teacher's assistant, along with 5 other classmates, for my history teacher during his "prep" period, which basically is his break time.  Well, this was at the end of the year, just a few months before promotion to high school, which meant it was state testing season.  State testing season means school schedule changes.  One of the schedule changes was a 20 minute snack break.

One day, during the 20 minute snack break, my teacher and my 5 other classmates left me in the classroom with the classroom door wide open.  I wanted to leave the classroom too and get some air; However, I wasn't sure if my teacher had the key to the classroom because if I closed the door, it would be locked.  So I just stood by the door, leaning on the door pane and watching other students enjoy their break.  Few minutes later, 2 of  my classmates (one being Vader), walk up to me some few feet away and I just stare at them.  The shorter boy whispers to Vader's ear, but still loud enough for me to hear, "There she is @#?!/, go ask her out!"  My eyebrows furrow, my eyes get big, and I look down on the ground.  I am thinking to myself, "Oh my gawd, this is not happening to me right now."  He walks up and with his airy voice says, "Hey, Jaymie!"  I look up and give a small smile, and then look back down.  He keeps talking, but I just keep smiling and keep my eyes down.  I'm thinking, "Gosh, why is he so fidgety?  Can't he stay still?  Driving me crazy!  Someone save me!  Why is this happening to me?  Why, why, why?"  (Side note: Seriously, this guy can't stand still.  For some reason, he always has to shift his weight left and right.  It's irritating to watch, especially when he does class presentations.  lol).  Still looking down, this boy has the nerve to bend over and look up at me and ask, "I was wondering if you would like to go out with me," taking his time to breathe in between every 3 words.  I look up with a smile trying so hard not to laugh.  And all that could come out of my mouth was, "Uhhhhh..."  One thing you have to know about me is that it is hard for me to say "no" and I'm afraid to hurt people's feelings.  In this situation, I didn't want to say "no" because I was afraid to hurt his feelings and he is already teased enough from our peers.  But I was delighted that his friends came over and ruined his moment.  I greeted them and thought, "Forget this, I'm closing this door and I'm going to my next class."

When I arrived to my next class, to my surprise, my classmates were asking me, "Are you and @#?!/ going out?"  What?!  The entire class knows?!  Honestly, I was furious.  Every time someone asked me, I look at them with my evil face.  lol.

Well, I don't know what was up with this boy, but for the next few days, he started to sit with me at lunch time.  First day or two, it was okay.  We talked about Star Wars, or rather, he talked about Star Wars.  After the second day, still talked about Star Wars.  Fourth day, still Star Wars, but by that time I wanted to cut my ears off and I missed sitting by myself.  LOL!

Another day goes by and my teacher was not there, so my fellow teacher assistants decided to split up and go to a different classroom.  I decided to go with the boys to our favorite math teacher.  Our math teacher put us in the back room.  To pass the time, I helped the boys make paper airplanes and I watched them play.  haha.  Then suddenly, one of them asked, "Hey, Jaymie.  Is @#?!/ still bothering you?"  I nod my head.  He throws his paper airplane that I built for him and says, "Just tell him Star Wars sucks and he'll leave you alone."  I burst out with laughter.  Then I replied, "Too late. I already told him I watched the movie."  LOL!

Another lunch time comes by, I decide to change gears and take a walk around the school in hopes to avoid him.  I'm walking around the pavilion when suddenly I hear, "Hey, Jaymie!!"  I turn to take a quick look and think, "Shit!  It's him!  Should I keep walking and pretend I didn't hear or walk over?"
I stood on my spot.  He walks over.  And over his shoulder, I see 2 of our friends who used to date and I start walking towards them and Vader joins me and says, "I know...I know...what you're thinking.  You're like, 'Ahhh!  There goes @#?!/ again.'"  I smile in assurance.  lol.
When we reach our friends, the boy starts talking to Vader.  He asked if we were dating.  I stared at Vader and he said we were not.  Relief spread all over me.  Phew!
But wait!  Our friend keeps talking and says, "If you want to get with her, you have to talk with the girls over there."  He points to these group of girls.  Think of them as the "Mean Girls."  He continues, "That's how we got to date before," referring to our other friend.  I'm staring at this guy in disbelief that he is telling Vader this in front of me and thinking about just how stupid he sounds.  But my jaw drops and my eyes widen in even more disbelief when Vader started walking towards the "Mean Girls."  I'm looking back at my 2 friends and they're laughing, so I start laughing too and thinking, "Wow, this guys is serious."  Few minutes later, the "Mean Girls" stand up and start their walk towards me and I look at my 2 friends with a look on my face that read, "Look what you have done."  The girls corner me and I smile.  All of them start shooting questions at me at the same time like, "Why don't you want to go out with him?  Do you prefer the 'Asian Persuasion' type? What kind of guys do you like?"  One of them said, "Let's just say she has a boyfriend from church, since we go to the same church."  All of this is happening while I just stare at them and  listen.  It probably lasted about 2 minutes.  They didn't even listen to my answers and they were like, "Okay, let's go!"  I watched them turn around and walk over to Vader and corner him.  Then the bell rings, signaling that lunch time is over and it is time for class.  I start walking, contemplating about everything that just happened because it just happened so fast.  Then Vader walks up to me and says, "I understand," and we both walk to class in silence.  I have no idea what the girls told him, and I feel bad for that.

But at the same time, I felt free.  lol.

Anyway, I learned from this experience, don't be afraid to say "no" and be honest.  Obviously, if I had just said "no" in the first place, all this craziness would have never happened and I wouldn't have to feel guilty all the time for having the girls stand up for me without knowing what they told him.

It's okay to say "no" as long as you're honest.  :)

Well, we went to the same high school.  We were still friends.  In high school, we had some of the same classes.  Sometimes, we were lab partners in our science classes and we were in the same academy until in the middle of second year high school when he  moved to a different state.

One day, down the busy hallway of lockers, I slipped pass by him and his friend.  I overheard his friend tell him, "You don't need a girlfriend right now.  You need to focus on school."  I keep walking with a smile on my face as I laugh to myself at what I just heard and I reminisce on that short period of time in middle school.  Then I thought, "He's right.  Listen to your friend, buddy."  :)

Whoa whoa whoa!!  I know what you're thinking, "Where have I been?!"
Well, I think I spilled it on a previous post, but I was accepted to the nursing program at my school, and well, it has been taking a lot of my time.  I don't even have time to hangout with friends.  I have no life.  lol.
Anyway, it's summer.  I stayed up late last night reading my previous posts and I suddenly missed writing to my 6 readers.  haha  :P
What else have I been up to?  Well, I finally turned 21.  I did not celebrate it with alcohol, but nonetheless, it was unforgettable.  I celebrated it with amazing people, including my favorite singer/songwriter, who also had a birthday.  She even bought us a huge red velvet cake and surprised me with birthday candles.  She's the best.  :)  Her mom is the cutest though, before we finished up the night, she hugged me and said, "You can drink now!!"  hahahaha
Here are some pictures!  :)

What else?  Oh! I met Dia Frampton.  After being a fan since freshman year high school, I finally met her.  Sisters!!  jk  :)

That was a quick summary version of everything I have been up to.  haha
